Chamonix
A bustling and established market
town rather than a purpose built resort. So there is plenty to keep the
non-skier entertained and all in the most beautiful surroundings. With 200 years
of mountaineering history to its name, Chamonix is a town where charm and
tradition share the scene with modern resort facilities. Its architectural
heritage has been preserved, giving a unique atmospheric feel to the resort. It
has a certain 'chic' charm about it, catering for the older richer clientele,
the rest of us, and families, couples, singletons as well as the adrenaline
mountain junkies that pass through during the summer and winter seasons. The
large weekly market is held here every Saturday morning.
Les Houches - Perfect for non-skiers too
Ride the Mont-Blanc rack railway
from the heart of the Les Houches ski area down to St. Gervais. Here you can
visit the Thermal Baths and enjoy a variety of beauty treatments. Les Houches is
also home to the Huski Sleigh Rides. For adults and children alike you will get
a chance to be a musher and drive your own sleigh! In the neighbouring village
of Servoz you can visit the St Bernard Kennels to see the cute new puppies. You
can also try paragliding or visit the ice caves on the Mer de Glace Glacier. A
pedestrian lift-ticket can be provided so you can ride the cable-cars and meet
up with friends for lunch!

Snow Shoeing
Growing in popularity thanks to the modern, lightweight plastic, snowshoes. This is the perfect way for non-skiers to take to the mountains. The shoes stop you sinking into the fresh snow which means
you can easily walk and explore the snowfields and enjoy the wonderful scenery.
